Fidget Pie recipe
Fidget Pie
1 lb (450 g) potatoes, peeled and sliced
approx. 8 oz (225 g) cooked bacon or ham, diced
1 lb (450 g) apples, peeled cored and sliced
sugar (optional)
stock
salt pepper
approx. 4 oz (100 g) shortcrust pastry

1. Make a layer of potato slices in a pie dish, then cover with some of the bacon or ham.

2. If the apples are very sour, dip the slices in sugar and make a layer on top of the bacon or ham.

3. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used and the dish is full.

4. Pour in a little stock and add salt and pepper.

5. Roll out the dough and use to cover the dish.

6. Bake in a preheated moderately hot oven 190°C (375°F) Gas Mark 5 for about 1 hour or until the pastry is golden brown.
