1 1/2 lb (700 g) potatoes
3/4 cup (170 g) butter
Salt and pepper to taste

1. Peel the potatoes as evenly as possible and thinly slice.
2. Rinse in cold water and dry on a clean tea cloth.
3. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Melt the butter and saute the potato slices gently until they are impregnated with the butter.
5. Make into a cake shape by pressing with a fork.
6. Brown on one side, turn the cake over and brown on the other side.
